Night Animal Addition |
Matching numbers with number words. This was a little harder because I didn't have the colors match, the kids had to actually search for the night animal and make a match that way. |
Possum Pouch activity. Turned out cute! |
Spider graphic organizer for journaling. |
Kids matched the words written on the spider and the web then wrote the word twice. |
Quick center where the kids used a number 8 ellison cutout (2 body parts), used reinforcements for eyes, had to draw 8 legs and glue sentences. |
I love all of these Smithsonian Backyard Series books. |
Pretty easy, I used clip art from Mailboxmagazine.com and the spider clip art is DJ inkers. |
My kids love anything that involves using Bingo markers. I put ghosts in the 'straw' and they had to pull a ghost from the straw, find the letter then dab it. Some of the ghosts had the word BOO on them. |
Part of my hibernation mini unit. |
Counting Baby Bear's paw prints then writing the number. |
Simple roll and write game. |
Our popcorn word this week was HAVE so I picked hibernating animals and made simple sentences where the kids would have to write the word HAVE and the name of the hibernating animal. |
As a class (the day before) we came up with 10 important facts about OWLS then I made a simple "All About Owls" booklet. |
Owl color word practice. |
This is a center I did together with my small groups. It was a bit challenging for some but by the end the kids really got the cvc concept. |
Kids had to match the word in the nest with the picture on the owl. |
Owl Booklet |
Page in owl booklet. |
I love all things Gail Gibbons! |
Owl/Bat comparison chart. I typed up the sentences from our owl and bat discussions from this week then as a whole group we placed the sentences where they belonged. |
Simple bat facts we came up with and I typed out. |
The bat shape is a printable from www.makinglearningfun.com and the bat facts are from above, cut and stapled on to the bat. |
CVC bat spelling, see pics below. I gave the kids the ending 2 letters and they had to come up with the beginning letter then write the whole word. |
-at rhyming words. Humpty is fat...I used mat, sat, cat, rat, hat, fat |
The kids did excellent with this!! |
Missing number fill in. I provided some numbers in each row, the kids had to fill in the rest. |
Number and number word writing. |
I love all of your ideas. Thanks for sharing!!!

You're ideas are adorable and so child-friendly! I was wondering if you have any graphic organizers that you used for hibernation. My class is going to read "What is Hibernation?" by Robbie Kalman and I'm trying to get a good organizer together. If you have one that you think I could work off of that would be splendid! houlam01@gmail.com Thanks for posting!
